Sostra Archaeological Complex - Restoration, Exposition and Socialization

The project proposal “Sostra Archaeological Complex - Restoration, Exposition and Socialization” is the first stage of an investment project “Sostra Archaeological Complex – restoration, exposition and socialization of Roman Castellum and Roman Roadside Station – Stage I” and covers conservation and physical protection of the discovered archaeological structures - Roman Castellum Sostra and Roman Road; construction of a pedestrian railway crossing, a visitor center and a parking lot; promotion of the region; increasing of the cultural and economic status of the place and opportunities for self-financing its maintenance and public works; providing employment for local specialists and support staff, etc. At the same time, the archaeological substance is preserved in a form that allows a sufficient level of cognition at its manifestation by means of applicable conservation and restoration methods. The project guarantees preservation of the cultural heritage and its socialization. The next stage of the project provides conservation and restoration works and construction works in the area of The Roman Roadside Station, building a motel with a restaurant, as well as the related to the indicated sites a road connection between the two archaeological objects – “Roman Castellum and Roman Road” and “Roman Roadside Station”, situated on the both sides of Republic road II-35.
