Improve the administrative capacity of the Municipality of Zlatograd in the implementation of energy efficiency projects

In implementation of the Municipal Plan for Development, Zlatograd Municipality performs a sustainable and coherent energy policy through realization of quality energy efficiency projects in all its schools and kindergartens, financed by the International “Kozloduy” fund, the Program for humanitarian assistance to the Embassy of the United States of America, the Program for free financial support to the Japanese Embassy, as well as with funding from the municipal budget. The implementation of energy efficiency measures in municipal buildings as well as in the private sector influences without any doubt not only the improvement of living conditions and energy performance of buildings, but also the improvement of the ambient air quality. The reduction of harmful emissions in the ambient air, the implementation of the so-called green construction, combined with informational stimulation of citizens to use environmentally friendly systems and heating fuel is a policy which Zlatograd Municipality has been implementing for three mandates. In this regard we have applied with 7 project proposals under Priority Axis 2 „Support for energy efficiency in support centers in peripheral areas” from the Operational Program "Regional Development", covering four buildings-public state property, one building public municipal property and nine multi-family residential buildings. This project proposal is related to the exchange of experience and good practices in the field of energy efficiency through the participation of municipal officials in work meetings, organized in the admissible countries from Northern or Central Europe (Germany, Austria or Denmark). The project envisages municipal employees involved in the teams for preparation and implementation of the projects under procedure BG16RFOP001-2.001 "Energy efficiency in peripheral areas" to participate in the working meetings whose specific topics will be identified in the process of execution of the grant aid funding contract.
