Support for outpatient medical care structures and transfusion hematology centers to deal with crises

The project proposal addresses the need to provide modern equipment for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of COVID-19 patients in outpatient care structures in order to reduce pressure on hospitals during epidemic outbreak peaks. The activities are aimed at providing support for the COVID zones opened in diagnostic and medical centers so that patients with mild to medium-severe symptoms receive affordable and quality health care throughout the country, in compliance with best European practices and standards. The project will help introduce remote access to health information for patients and limit unnecessary physical contacts in order to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus infection. With the implementation of the project activities, the capacity of the transfusion hematology centers for the diagnosis of COVID-19 and the production of convalescent plasma from sickened patients will be strengthened to ensure the application of this type of therapy in the hospital system in the face of increasing needs. The objectives of the project will be achieved through the implementation of two main components: COMPONENT No1 - Modernization of medical institutions by outpatient care by supplying medical equipment for diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients with coronavirus infection; COMPONENT No2 - Increasing the capacity of transfusion hematology centers for the diagnosis of COVID-19 and production of convalescent plasma. The implementation of the project will create conditions for easier access for Bulgarian citizens to more precise diagnostics, effective treatment and monitoring in case of COVID-19 infection and for improved readiness of the outpatient medical care system to meet future epidemic crises. The implementation of the envisaged activities will also support measures in the National Operational Plan for dealing with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
