Production and market implementation of protocol translator for patient monitors "Universal"

Since its establishment in year 2009 S Systems has been providing system integration and advanced engineering solutions. The company is experienced in designing, implementing and maintaining monitoring systems in hospitals, offering architecture engineering, providing medical devices and developing their software. Having gained sufficient experience as a subcontractor of medical equipment suppliers both in Bulgaria and abroad, the company identified an opportunity for niche market positioning in the segment of medical diagnostics and therapy area (thematic priority "Industry for healthy living and biotechnology" of the ISIS). Currently there is lack of communication interoperability between medical devices used for continuous monitoring, measurement and transmission of patients vital signals. The absence of such standards for protocols and communication channels leads to manufacturers' vicious practice of bringing into operation devices that are only compatible with other devices of the same manufacturer. This non-market mechanism, known as vendor lock, greatly increases the costs of hospitals for acquisition and operation of monitoring equipment, reduces its life cycle, limits the possibilities for timely data processing, etc. As a result of its Ramp;D efforts, S Systems has successfully developed a solution - a protocol translator device for patient monitors "Universal" registered as a utility model and as a global novelty. With the current project the company plans to create new business premises in the town of Yablanitsa (NWR), where the protocol translator will be produced and implemented as a new product on the national and global market. The main activity of the project is, therefore, the purchase of manufacturing equipment to enable S Systems to produce and enter into the market protocol translators for analysis and processing of hemodynamic data. The chosen grant model is Regional Aid and the total estimated investment is BGN 1.15 mln.
