Development of a technology for production of innovative metal foams /Development of aluminium based composite foams with high mechanical, thermal and corrosive resistance/

With here proposed project, the start-up company "Metal foams" Ltd applies for development of innovative technology for production of metal foams made from aluminum, aluminum alloys or aluminum based particle reinforced composites. The new developed technology will allow production of foams with both homogeneous or graded pore distribution, i.e. different, slightly changing porosity at different region of cast ingot. The foams produced under innovative technology will be with specific characteristics as follows: high corrosive resistance in water-salt solutions; very low thermal conductivity; improved mechanical properties (composite foams); flame resistivity; high porosity and low density and will keep their functionality at elevated temperatures. Because of those properties the developed technology can be largely applied in shipbuilding, automotive industry, production of thermal and sound insulations elements, military industry and others. At the moment, technologies for industrial production of foams with graded porosity are not offered in the world and because of this the developed technology will be innovative for the world market. The planed innovation will be completely realized by the team of “Metal Foams” Ltd. Equipment shipment, consumables, intellectual properties consultants and other additional activities will be realized under special contracts. The activities planned in the frame of that project are as follows: 1. Research and development, testing, measurement, scientific and market analyses related with the innovative process here proposed; 2. Reservation of intellectual properties at national and international level; 3. Visualization of project results.
