Development of an "Intelligent Sensor System for Non-Invasive Blood Sugar Measurement"

Comac Medical Ltd is a scientific research organization with 20 years of experience in conducting of clinical trials, monitoring, research of new medical products in compliance with the International Convention on Harmonization and the requirements of the Good Clinical Practice Association, the applicable directives of the EP and the EU, as well as any and all national regulations. Through all these years the company has developed a number of innovations in the field of innovative products/services. With this project proposal the company aims to continue its innovation activities by developing an Intelligent System for Non-Invasive Blood Sugar Measurement. This innovative product will present a new method of testing the concentration of blood sugar, without the need for puncturing the skin of the patient to draw blood on a daily basis. The device will track the changes in the concentration of blood sugar with a sensor /clips/ positioned on the ear of the patient, using a light wave method based on the ability of glucose to absorb light energy with wavelengths of 0.8 to 2.5 microns, with the most significant absorption in the range of 1.2 to 2.5 microns. The testing will be carried out with numerous readings in different bands /0.01 microns/, which will ensure the improvement of selectivity /by limiting the influence of other substances in the human body which also absorb light waves/.This will lead to a significant improvement of the accuracy of the testing device. At this stage we have formulated the concept of the technology, and more industrial scientific research will be carried out to acquire the knowledge and competencies required for the validation of the technology in laboratory and operational environment, and for the creation of the separate components which will be assembled in a single system that will be tested in a simulation environment in order to get to TRL6.The innovation falls within IS3 thematic area Industry for a Healthy Life and Biotechnology.
