Development of innovative technology for the production of bio-technical carbon for the rubber industry

The project proposal is aimed at developing, constructing and producing an innovative technology, a laboratory model of an installation for the production of technical carbon from different types of biomass. The present project aims to explore the potential of unused biomass in Bulgaria as an alternative raw material for the extraction of technical carbon and to create a technology that produces high quality bio-technical carbon with stable indicators and leaving a much smaller footprint on the environment. As part of the project, an experimental model is to be built to demonstrate the possibility of turning biomass into carbon black. The so obtained filler is expected to meet the highest standards of the rubber industry and to ensure smaller carbon footprints of all rubber items produced with it. The forecasts are that every ton of carbon black of biological origin used in the production of rubber items in the place of petroleum-derived carbon black will prevent about 2.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This innovative project will develop an innovative method for the use of renewable and free raw materials in the production of technical carbon to contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development. The innovation under this project proposal gives a demand for innovation in the European and world market. The activities to achieve the aim are: 1. Carry out the research, tests, measurements needed to develop innovation. 2. Creation and testing of prototypes and pilot lines related to the development of innovation. 3. Project preview.
