Development of a NB-IoT multifunctional sensor

The project proposal aims development of innovative product in thematic area “ICT and Informatics – a wireless, multifunctional sensor that can measure environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, luminance, atmospheric pressure, volume, carbon monoxide (CO), control other devices wirelessly via infrared (IR) and radio (RF) signals, communicate through the network of mobile operators using NB-IoT standard, work without recharging or replacing batteries over 30 years, and with the help of a small solar panel – unlimited in time. The creation of such a sensor will allow measurement and transmission of critical indicators in domestic, public, industrial and agricultural environments, including those that are remote and have no permanent power supply, without additional equipment. Product development falls mainly within the scope of priority “Wireless Sensor Networks and Wireless Communication / Management” and “Big Data, Grid and Cloud Technologies”. In order to penetrate the market, the innovation will feature: 1. Reliability. 2. Autonomy. 3. Mobility. 4. Data security. 5. Wireless control. 6. Complexity. For this purpose, the project proposal consists of: 1. Researches, tests, and measurements. 2. Prototyping and testing. The implementation of the project will lead to minimum 6th technological readiness level (TRL 6 - Technology demonstrated in relevant environment), using special NB-IoT simulating stands and software for connecting and managing IoT devices. The prototype will be ready for demonstration in an operating environment and in case that by the end of the project, the mobile operators in Bulgaria have commercially implemented the NB-IoT standard, will be demonstrated in such environment (TRL 7).
