Development of a web-based innovative software for booking and renting cars and car park management enabling autonomous rental and return of cars at a chosen by the customer location

In 2018 MODUL Ltd is one of the leading car rental companies in Bulgaria. It owns a constantly renewing car park of over 1,200 vehicles (10 of which electric vehicles) and a national market share of about 15%. Towards the end of 2018, revenue growth is projected to be around 20% compared to 2017. In addition to the large increase in service volume, the company monitors and analyzes new, qualitatively different trends in car rental business: - a worldwide tendency for more and more people not having their own cars and, if necessary, hiring cars for business or tourism; - the introduction of new technologies enables customers to hire cars online and facilitates (without waiting at the desk) receive and return of cars autonomously (without the assistance of a company employee) to the locations they choose from designated park areas of the company. - entry of electric vehicles that require specific software when using autonomous service. In order to remain a market leader in the future, MODUL Ltd has to take into account and respond to the challenges of the industry imposed by the above-described trends. In pursuance of its strategic objectives and in accordance with the objectives of the OP "Innovation and Competitiveness" to increase the innovation activity in the enterprises in the territory of the "Devnya - Aksakovo" LAG in the thematic areas of ISIS, the company will implement this project. Its essence lies in the development of a specialized web-based innovative software for booking and renting cars and managing a car park with the possibility of autonomous (without intervention of a company employee) hiring and returning cars at a chosen by the customer location. With the help of the software, the company will provide a new service nation wide for the autonomous rental and return of car rental in selected locations by the customer. Subsequently, the innovative software can be upgraded for electric vehicles. It will have a clear environmental impact.
