Increasing the innovation activity of UNDERGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE INDUSTRIAL CLUSTER through set-up a Research amp; Development Centre and development of a product innovation

Association 'Underground Infrastructure Industrial Cluster (UIIC) was established in 07.2012 with the main activity of preserving, restoring and improving the existing underground pipeline infrastructure, as well as developing and implementing new technologies for the reconstruction and modernization of underground infrastructure. Within the framework of the current project, UIIC plans to increase its innovation activity by establishing a center for experimental development and testing, and development of a product innovation (carbon fiber lining for the rehabilitation of pipelines of high pressure- and temperature- of the conducted fluid by trenchless technology "Cured-In-Place Pipe" - CIPP). The project activities envisaged include: 1) Provision of resources for the innovation and Ramp;D activities of the UIIC by hiring qualified research staff of 3-person who will be directly involved in the development of the innovative insulating material and the purchase of materials and supplies needed for the design and testing of a laboratory prototype of the innovative product (1 set) 2) Acquisition of Tangible Long-term Assets ​​for joint cluster innovation activities, with the aim of establishing a center for experimental development and testing in the field of trenchless technologies, including developmental experimental and laboratory modules 3) Publicity and visualization of the project 4) Financial audit of the project The project envisages the planned center for experimental development and testing to be located in premises provided free of charge in the production base of the UIIC member "Stroitelna mechanizatzia" AD near the village of Koprinka, municipality of Kazanlak, as the planned activity for product innovation development will be implemented too. The implementation of the project will allow to increase the innovation activity of the cluster, to strengthen the relations and cooperation between its members and increase their competitiveness.
