Improving the productive capacity of "Index-Bulgaria" ltd by implementing innovative technologies for application software and systems development

"Index - Bulgaria" Ltd. is a company for specific software and software systems production and integration. The largest share of its portfolio belongs to the integrated information systems /IIS/ that are tailored to the individual customer requirements and are, generally speaking, electronic filing platforms for storage, processing, use and analysis of information. An example of this type of system is the system implemented in the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, which covers all major activities of the National Assembly. At present IIS are developed individually for each particular user - 98% of the software is written from the beginning for each client, since it is impossible to use already taylored modules for a particular user by adjusting their parameters (parameterization) for another user. This leads to major delays and loss of clients. The company has an obligation to maintain the systems already installed at customers' sites. Currently "Index-Bulgaria" Ltd. has implemented similar software systems at more than 38 500 work stations in companies and institotions of the legal, executive and judicial authorities, and currently maintains them. To be able to remove bugs occurred in the systems, operating at its customers, the company uses an open source software for bug recording and management, which has a limited functionality, leading to inefficient work of the costly software engineers, inability to meet contractual deadlines for bug elimination, higher cost of provided service and overall - low efficiency of production costs, loss of customers, inability to increase its production capacity. To overcome identified problems, the company needs to purchase and produce specific hardware and software, described in detail further in the application form, which will allow the company to increase its production capacity, optimize resources for software development, increase its sales revenue and thus, to increase its overall competitiveness.
