Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of services, provided to Bulgarian enterprises in the field of accreditation

The Applicant - the Executive Agency 'Bulgarian Accreditation Service' / EA BAS / is the national accreditation body and the only and exclusive body in the Republic of Bulgaria, entitled to conduct accreditation of conformity assessment bodies in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council dated 9 July 2008, setting out the requirements for accreditation and market surveillance with regard to the marketing of products and repealing Regulation (EEC) No. 339/93 (OJ, L 218/30 dated 13 August 2008), hereinafter referred to as the 'Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008'. EA BAS is an executive agency with the Minister of Economy, it is a separate legal entity, funded by the Budget and a sub-delegated authorising authority of the budget credits, domiciled in the city of Sofia. To implement its main goal, this project shall provide a set of measures to improve infrastructure quality and thereby increase the effectiveness and efficiency of services, provided to Bulgarian enterprises in the field of accreditation. These measures shall include: conducting specialized information events and training for users of accreditation services; promoting the role and importance of accreditation to ensure the tranquillity of the ultimate consumer of goods and services; introducing contemporary ICT decisions, necessary for the effective management of services, provided to businesses; conducting 20 studies in the fields of "testing" and "calibration" for conformity assessment of services, provided by inter-laboratory comparisons in the areas of testing; introduction of new business for EA BAS - accreditation for notification purposes and others. The project shall be implemented within a period of 30 months and will build on projects, implemented by the Applicant as of today, in the previous operating period.
