Developing the republishing business of Display Daily

Display Daily Ltd (DD) was set up in response to two market trends: the decreasing consumption of print subscription services (hence, the necessity to identify new funding sources for high-quality journalism) on the one hand, and the increasing consumption of digital information (hence the rate of data handling, ways of use and shorter response times), on the other. We created the company in 2018 when the European Parliament adopted the Copyright Directive on the digital single market - in particular Article 11 and Article 13, which provide publishers with the opportunity to receive fair and proportionate remuneration for the digital use of their published press works through service providers in the information society. Our goal is to take advantage of this open market opportunity and to realize a service that is potentially profitable for media publishers and encourages the use of journalistic materials, acting against the developing of fake news. Our idea generally is to implement a "digital publishing" platform which will digitally re-publish print media from Bulgaria (later from SEE) and will offer digital subscriptions: a faster and cheaper (e.g. digitization) alternative of the "standard" press. Simultaneously, we also achieve market relevance and strong environmental impact. The project envisages: - the recruitment of three experts - a female entrepreneur and qualified staff with education and experience in the field. Two more long-term jobs for press data experts will also be created. - Specific Software and associated Data Storage and Processing equipment will enable the introduction of a subscription re-publishing service - Purchase of an archive of digital press as consumables will allow the initial marketing (introduction) of the service Being in the J58 sector and having in mind the objectives, the project falls into the priority area "New Technologies in the Creative Industries" (ISIS), and will be held in Vratsa and Montana.
