Improving the energy efficiency and production capacity of BULNED-AMD Ltd.

The present project proposal is realized within the framework of Priority Ax 3 “Energy and resource efficiency” of OP “Innovation and competitiveness” 2014 – 2020, whose overall objective is to provide focused support to Bulgarian small and medium enterprises encouraging the implementation of measures for energy efficiency aimed at achieving sustainable growth and competitiveness of the economy. The project beneficiary is BULNED-AMD Ltd., which extracts Vratsa limestone from a quarry in the vicinity of the village of Varbeshnitza, Mezdra municipality, Vratsa region with the company project proposal including the following specific objectives: i) improving the energy efficiency of BULNED-AMD Ltd. (achieving an energy saving ratio - ESF of minimum 60%); ii) increasing the production capacity of the company by minimum 30%; iii) improving the company profitability (increasing the company profit by 12%-15% per cub. m. of extracted limestone) and its competitiveness in the domestic and international markets. The project objectives will be achieved through the implementation of the following activities: • Purchase of new equipment necessary for the improvement of the energy efficiency and for increasing the production capacity of BULNED-AMD Ltd. (one 48-ton tracked excavator and one dumper with a 34-ton load capacity) recommended as energy saving measures in the energy audit conducted at the company; • Introduction at BULNED-AMD Ltd. and certification of an Energy management system according to ISO 50001 aimed at improving the energy efficiency of the company and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions; • Conducting an energy audit at the company; • Activities related to the project visualization and publicity.
