Energy efficiency improvement in STS Pack Holding Ltd.

STS Pack Holding has been manufacturing laminated tubes since 2003. The tubes are suitable packaging for wide range of industrial products: cosmetics and products for personal hygiene; food; chemical, technical and pharmaceutical products. The current production technology uses pre-moulded plastic shoulders. Most of the machines are semi-automatic and fully depreciated. The production capacity of the tube bodies making machines is 20 tube bodies/min and installed power 3kW, machines for the shoulder welding are with production capacity 18 tubes/min and installed power 4kW. For the existing system of semi-automatic machines is necessary a lot of non-attractive man power which is a premise for low production capacity, bad quality and a lot of wastage. On the other hand the company cannot guarantee the high requirements for quality and cleanness of the packagings and the energy intensity is a reason for low competitiveness of the packaging prices. The renovation of the current production equipment is extremely necessary in order to achieve stable growth and competitiveness of the company. For qualilty improvement of the production the company can add to its current configuration of semi-automatic machines another semi-automatic machine for plastic shoulder moulding and another one - for cap screwing. There exists another better solution - fully automatic production system for laminated tubes with shoulder moulding and production capacity of 60 tubes/min and consumed power 15kW. With the automatic system will be achieved energy and non-energy savings, usage of recycled plastic material. The emissions of the carbon dioxide will be less with 165,4 ton/year; the human factor mistakes will be minimized. The produced tubes will be with better outer appearance, significantly better shoulder welding; production capacity will be increased. The company will be able to make a further step in making products from a higher price class and will broaden the clients' range.
