Energy Efficiency Improvement in IKO OOD

The aim of this project proposal is to increase the energy efficiency and production capacity of "IKO" Ltd. by replacing the old and low energy efficient production equipment of the company with a new one, which will be highly energy-efficient and with higher performance capacities. The proposal also includes measures for construction of environmentally friendly lighting system, photovoltaic system for own needs and energy management monitoring system. As a result of the implementation of these measures the amount of energy consumed will be reduced as well as the amount of industrial waste, which will support the environmental protection and will improve the competitiveness of "IKO" Ltd. The concrete measures include the purchase of three new machines (multi-disc circular buzz saw for longitudinal cutting, machining center with numerical control, machine with tilting spindle 0-45 °), replacing the use of eight pcs. of the current facilities (2 pcs. saws, 2 pcs. planer-thicknesser machines, 2 pcs. circulars, 1 pc. router, 1 pc. calibration grinding). The project also plans replacement of the old wood boiler with a new steel solid fuel boiler as well as replacement of the existing lighting system with a new LED system, which will be characterized by high energy efficiency and long life. The company also intends to implement a system for recovery of residual heat and an automatic system for monitoring the energy consumption. The construction of a new photovoltaic system for own needs will further contribute to reducing overall energy costs and environmental protection. The expected energy savings are calculated to 219065 kWh/year, respectively 94,5 t /year less carbon emissions. This means an energy saving factor (ESR) of 51,3%, whereas the energy savings for the entire enterprise as a result of this project implementation are 46.3%
