"Increasing the energy efficiency at DIO Ltd through green investments in a new eyewear lens production line"

he overall objective of this project proposal is to increase the competitiveness of DIO Ltd and to create prerequisites for the company's sustainable development on the Bulgarian and European markets through commissioning an energy efficient Free From line for eyewear lens production. In order to achieve this, the following activities will be implemented within the scope of the project "Increasing the energy efficiency at DIO Ltd through green investments in a new eyewear lens production line": - Conducting an energy audit and preparing a report; - Improving the energy and resource efficiency through purchasing a new FF line for eyewear lens production; - Implementing and certifying an energy management system compliant to the requirements of BSS EN ISO 50001: 2011; - Visualization and publicity for the project activities through developing information materials. The aforementioned activities will result in the fulfillment of the following results for DIO Ltd: - Energy audit and a prescribed measure for improving energy efficiency; - An implemented and certified energy management system compliant with ISO 50001: 2011; - Establishing a strategic framework for more efficient energy management in the company; - A purchased and installed FF line for eyewear lens production of the highest energy class; - Increased productivity and production capacity at DIO Ltd; - 48% energy consumption reduction as compared to 2015 (82,857 kWh / year); - Reduced operational CO2 emissions by 67.860 t / year; - Reduced energy consumption per unit produced by 1,38kWh / unit - Reduced water consumption; - Achieving a more environmentally-rational resource use; - Increased energy and resource efficiency; - Improved product quality. In view of the positive effects listed above, this project proposal will be a major instrument to enhance the competitiveness of DIO Ltd. on the Bulgarian and international markets.
