Mod Mary Ltd. Increases Its Competitiveness through Implementation of Energy Efficiency Measures

Mod Mary Ltd. is a modern enterprise for women's clothing manufacturing with more than 25-year history located in Ruse. The company successfully combines the entrepreneurial spirit of the city and haute couture from the past with the latest European technologies for cutting, sewing and ironing of high quality women's apparel. Mod Mary annually produces over 62,000 jackets, coats, trousers, skirts and dresses for leading brands such as Isabella Haze, Tara Jarmon, Devernois, Galeries Lafayette, Claudia Sträter, Liu Jo, TWINSET, Guess and Reiss. With this project the company will implement two measures to improve its energy efficiency. These include the replacement of part of the technological equipment and the existing production lighting with more energy efficient ones. The company plans to implement new generation production machinery with a higher degree of automation and efficiency of operations. The new machines will contribute to the automation of sewing, intermediate and final ironing operations such as labeling and qualification. The new equipment will replace the current old, damaged and depreciated assets, which will significantly enhance the quality of the final product. The new machines will be able to work with recycled materials, which will allow expansion of the product range. With the new LED lighting the company will significantly reduce electricity consumption and provide better working conditions. As a result of the project Mod Mary intends to achieve annual energy savings of 96 841,29 kWh per year. The planned energy savings will reach 24,38%, with an Energy Saving Ratio (ESR) of 48,80%. Moreover, with the new equipment the company plans to increase its production by 25% from 63,000 to over 78,000 garments per year. Within the project will be developed and implemented also an energy management system in accordance with the internationally recognized standard ISO 50001: 2011. It will be certified by a leading certification organization.
