The aim of the current project proposal is increasing the energy efficiency and production capacity of “Simonas Cards”Ltd through the purchase of a new digital printing machine with offset printing technology and certification of energy management system according to the ISO 50001 standard. The investment in new equipment and services will improve not only the energy efficiency and the production capacity of the company but also its resource efficiency alongside with reducing the carbon dioxide emissions. The new machine, which will replace the currently used offset printing machine, can use recycled materials (PVC sheets) and this will have a positive impact on the environment. The implementation of the project will result in planned energy savings for the company of 20.15%, whereas the energy saving ratio (ESR) of the planned measure is 77.54% and the reduced carbon dioxide emissions - 87.07 t/year. Additionally, the purchase of the new machine will greatly improve and fasten the printing processes since the personalization will be done alongside with the printing and there will be no need for a separate personalization process as such. This will not only save time but it will also enhance the products' quality. The new machine with one shot printing technology will require one-time instead of four-time printing shot which will solve the main problem of printing on PVC-sheets - stretching the sheet and technological inability to overlap the registration marks, and will eliminate the high quantity of technological waste in means of PVC sheets and printing ink, needed for the operating of the currently used machine. All these improvements, together with the enhanced production quality and the more attractive prices due to the reduced price of the end product, will result in increased energy efficiency and production capacity of "Simonas Cards" Ltd. The project will also enable the usage of recycled materials.
