Measures to increase energy efficiency at the waste treatment and processing facility of "DARKOMET" LTD in the town of Pirdop

This project shall be focused on the implementation of measures to increase energy efficiency at the processing facility for inorganic waste of "DARKOMET" LTD in the town of Pirdop. Project activities shall include investments in new equipment, to be implemented in the production line for pellets, through which the company plans to process waste from used wood (as part of their core business of processing waste). The material shall include waste from the packaging boxes from delivered machines at the large mining and processing enterprises in the region, wooden parts from replaced old windows and other materials, representing waste from already used wood, generated by the industry and households. As of the moment the enterprise does not have such production equipment. Waste wood is now treated with the help of auxiliary equipment and a lot of manual labour, thus being inefficient, energy-intensive and unprofitable. In line with the recommendations of an energy efficiency study, to reduce power consumption and cut down production expenses, two (2) measures shall be provided for implementation at the manufacturing site of DARCOMET LTD, located in the town of Pirdop: - Measure 1: Commissioning of a semi-automatic pelleting installation; - Measure 2: Commissioning of an automated system for monitoring energy consumption. The direct outcome of activities, implemented under the project shall be cutting the volume of energy, consumed for industrial purposes by 90,140 kWh/year and reaching an energy saving ratio (ESR) 73.95%.
