Energy efficiency in "Veneer Montana" Ltd.

"VENEER MONTANA" Ltd. is a company founded in 2008 in the city of Montana with main activity - production and processing of wood veneer, furniture components and wooden details, plywood for furniture, construction plywood, plywood and others. Although the company has been situated on the market for just eight years, it aims to constantly increase its market potential by working with customers from Italy, Turkey, Germany and Bulgaria. The highly energy consuming veneer development and processing process is the key in the company's production. Energy costs represent 12% of the total production costs and are an essential part of pricing. In order to reduce the energy consumption on one hand, and to increase the production capacity, by another hand, in 2015, "VENEER MONTANA" Ltd. launched a program for existing production capacities modernization, through which in mid-2017 the production will be increased by adding new capacities. Since the production of veneer is still highly energy consuming and ineffective, the project's strategic goal is to achieve optimal energy consumption by implementing the following activities: 1. Perform an energy audit; 2. Optimizing the energy consumption of the entire production through certification BS EN ISO 50001 for energy management; 3. Modernization of production facilities to increase production capacity and reduce production costs through the introduction of high-tech and energy-efficient equipment for veneer production. All activities under this project will reduce the electricity consumption and fuel for 1 unit of production, as well as the harmful CO2 emissions. The implementation of the project activities will enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of the production in "VENEER MONTANA" Ltd. and will make possible the use of recycled raw materials, after introducing into production the newly purchased machines.
