Increasing the energy efficiency of Mega Siluet OOD

The current project aims to implement measures for improving the energy efficiency of Mega Siluet OOD, and thus increase its competitiveness and facilitate its sustainable growth. Mega Siluet has been functional since 2001 and is specialized in manufacturing outerwear (women’s jackets and coats), mainly for export. The candidate has its own production and storage facilities, as well as specialists and equipment necessary for developing its own constructions and models. An energy audit was prepared and approved for the purposes of the project. The audit points at a number of measures, through which a high level of energy efficiency would be achieved. The main measures to be realized are as follows: ⁻ Replacing the existing metal framing and thermal insulation of the building’s roof in order to reduce the energy consumed for heating; ⁻ Replacing the old straight knife cutting machine and bandsaw with a new automated system for spreading and cutting; ⁻ Replacing the old energy-inefficient lighting in the enterprise; ⁻ Introducing an automated system for monitoring the energy consumption; ⁻ Shipping and installation of a system for utilization of the residual heat from cooling the air compressor for heating a working space. To achieve an additional synergy effect from realizing the above measures, the candidate intends to be certified in compliance with the energy management system according to standard ISO 50001. The expected results from realizing the current project proposal have the following quantification: - Realized energy savings – 108521,03 kWh annually; - Reduction in carbon emissions - 34,07 tonnes annually; - Energy savings factor - 54,71%. These measures would increase the resource efficiency of the enterprise, reduce the carbon emissions and achieve a very good economic effect. The pay-back period for the investment is 4.63 years, which is more than three times less than the lifetime of the equipment.
