Increasing energy efficiency in BIOPHARM-ENGINEERING Jsc

This project proposal is aimed at increasing the energy efficiency and expanding the production capacity of the veterinary medicinal and immunological products of Biopharm-Engineering JSC. The project corresponds to the main code of economic activity of the company - 21.20 “Production of medicinal products”, characterized by high energy intensity. At present Biopharm-Engineering JSC has the necessary facilities and equipment for growing the microorganisms necessary for the development of anthrax, brucellosis, tuberculosis (tuberculin) vaccines, etc., but the obsolete dosing systems limit the possibility of energy efficient production of larger batches of the products. Replacement of the equipment currently in use with a new vaccine dosing line is foreseen to cover the processes currently being carried out by different machines, namely: washing, drying and vial sterilization and dosage. The new line will allow water purification using filters to ensure efficient use of natural resources and environmental protection. The project envisages a system for waste heat utilization, purchase of an automated system for monitoring and control of the energy consumption and introduction and certification of an energy management system according to the requirements of the standard BDS EN ISO 50001. The planned energy savings for the plant as a result of the project implementation (PES) will be 86.5% or 5 321 222 kWh/year, and the efficiency of the investment as a ratio of the amount of energy saved annually in kWh to the required investment in BGN (kWh / BGN) will be 1.07 kWh/lv., with saved carbon dioxide emissions of 4274.9 t/year.
