Increasing energy efficiency in "ITD" Ltd.

"ITD" Ltd., registered in 1996, is a leading manufacturer on the Bulgarian market of PET preforms, plastic bottles, vials and caps. The company's products are widely used in cosmetics, food and beverage industry, household and industrial chemistry, pharmacy. "ITD" Ltd. is certified according to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 22000:2005. The project is to be implemented in a high energy intensity sector - C 22 "Manufacture of rubber and plastic products" and includes the acquisition of new energy-efficient equipment for the company's activity: 2 production lines for PET (polyethylene terephthalate) preforms and an injection molding machine for plastic handles. The investment in the project will increase the amount of the produced output while at the same time high levels of energy savings will be achieved. The production of the company's plastic products will become more energy and resource efficient and support for environmental protection activities, including the use of recycled raw materials, will be provided. The project is based entirely on an energy audit by model and includes the following investments for the recommended measures: - 2 pcs. automated production lines for PET preforms (measure 1 in the audit) - 1 pc. electric injection molding machine for plastic handles (measure 2) - 1 pc. boiler for residual energy recovery (measure 3) - upgrade of automated monitoring and control system for energy consumption (measure 4) The project also includes implementation and certification of an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001. As a result of the project activities, the production process of "ITD" Ltd. will be with lower energy intensity, i.e. a lower share of electricity costs in the cost price while the company's capacity to produce more and better high quality products will be expanded. As a consequence the company’s profitability and competitiveness on the Bulgarian and European markets will increase.
