Increasing resource efficiency in "Lito Balkan" AD through the implementation of pilot and demonstration initiatives for resource efficiency

The present project proposal will increase the resource efficiency of Lito Balkan AD by introducing process innovation - "Printing of in-mould labels by flexo printing", by purchasing a Two-color roll printing press - 1 pc. and Robotic automatic punch-1 pc. The implementation of this innovative manufacturing process will allow saving of basic raw materials for the production of in-mould labels - biaxial polypropylene (BOPP) foil, low migration flexo ink (LM), isopropyl alcohol, antistatic varnish; a reduction of more than 96.38% of foil (plastic) waste with code 20 01 39, with 39.62% of the metal packaging waste with code 15 01 04 (ink packages) and Lito Balkan AD will pass to the first degree of "prevention" of waste, according to the waste management hierarchy; reducing the use of hazardous chemicals, such as isopropyl alcohol; increasing the efficiency of production costs by more than 16% compared to 2016 and reducing the amount of emissions in the atmosphere from the production activity. Implementation of Innovation will extend the production capacity of Lito Balkan JSC for the production of in-mould labels by 28 times as it will increase print speed without generating substantial volumes of maculations and will allow the company to expand its market share among manufacturers of in-mould labels. The project also includes activities for organizing and conducting events and publications in traditional and digital media to multiply the results of the project.
