Improving the the resource efficiency of Glassproekt Ltd. by introducing a process innovation in the production of insulating glass units

Glassproject EOOD is a modern production company with main activity manufacturing of glass insulating units. In connection with its plans to increase its resource efficiency and extend its capacity, the company plans to introduce a process innovation in the production of glass, which is a pilot novelty for Bulgaria, namely production of insulating glass units by direct extrusion of the separation frame between the glasses after their preliminary edging. Under the project for the implementation of innovation, Glassproject EOOD envisages to implement the following activities: 1) Performance of emission measurements in wastewater by an accredited laboratory (performed prior to project submission) 2) Performance a resource efficiency audit (performed before project submission) 3) Delivery of a complete line for the production of insulating glass units by direct extrusion of the separation frame 4) Carry out an public event to disseminate the results of the project 5) Publications in traditional and digital media about the project 6) Visualization of the project 7) Financial audit of the project. The implementation of the foreseen process innovation will contribute to a significant improvement of the resource efficiency in Glassproject EOOD by reducing the consumption of raw materials and the generated waste for the production of a unit of output, reducing the use of hazardous chemicals (CC) and waste paper streams, reducing emissions into waste water and increasing the cost efficiency of the production process. From manufacturing and technological perspective, the introduction of the new production line will lead to an increase of the production capacity and an overall improvement of the efficiency of the company's production activities. With the implementation of the project, the company will considerably improve its activity in technological, economic and environmental aspects, which will ensure a sustainable increase of its competitiveness.
