MIK-BG Ltd. increases its resource efficiency through implementation of an innovative process based on Industry 4.0.

MIK-BG Ltd is a Bulgarian company founded in 2003. Its main activity is the production of women garment: shirts, blouses, skirts, dresses and uniforms.The estimated production capacity of the company per month is about 3000 items of clothing, depending on the complexity and the model of the product.When subcontracting services are used, the month production reaches 5000 pieces.The company works with localand international agencies and partners for world famous brands in the fashion industry, such as: CAROLL, Kenzo, Guess, Chanel, Diplodocus, SANDRO, Cacharel, Vanessa Bruni, Madame a Paris, Tara Jarmon, Maison Kitsune and many others. The company’s clients also include restaurants and pizzerias, fast food chains, travel agencies, airports and hospital. With this project, the company starts digitization of its production, thus meeting the Industry 4.0 criteria. This is the first stage towards the full digitization of the company, which covers the entire cutting process. For this purpose, MIK-BG introduces an innovative production process of fully automatic cutting through the Sectional cutting control system. It includes a complete digital connection between the seven modules, including: Fabric spreader machine, Fabric spreading table, Device for loading fabric from floor, Automatic labeling machine, Cutting robot - cutter, Cutting optimization software and Fusing machine. In addition, the automatic cutting system is fully compatible with the new specialized software for the production of 4D garment models. The project will help MIK-BG to achieve the following results: Increase in cost efficiency by 19% compared to 2016; Decrease the use of raw materials by 16.7% per one item of clothing. With the new equipment, the company plans to double its production, from 33 700 to 70 000 items of clothing per year, to make savings and increase revenue, which will allow it to get return on investment within the period of 1.5 years.
