Upgrading and expanding the capacity of the national AFIS EURODAC

The project proposal includes: Upgrading of the National EURODAC system with new functionalities related to the transmission, processing and verification of biometric data (fingerprints and facial image), additional demographic data, face recognition, possibility for law enforcement authorities to perform searches based on alphanumeric data, recording in Eurodac system of identity documents; Improving the algorithm for searching, modifying and adding new workflows and categories of persons related to the Resettlement Regulation; Modification and addition of new logical records of the NIST file generated for sending to the central system; Expanding the capacity of the system with disk space for storing facial image and documents, RAM for processing, building new and supplementing the existing database in DBMS Oracle. The project proposal also envisages the purchase of 22 biometric stations. 11 of them were purchased in 2008, which requires their replacement. Eleven new regional migration units at Regional Directorate of MoI which do not have biometric stations are being equipped. The collection of biometric data of persons from the age of six and up requires the replacement of the fingerprint scanners of the 14 biometric stations purchased in 2017, located in the Migration Directorate-MoI and the regional Migration structures. Target group are: employees of NIK-MI, Migration Directorate -MoI, regional Migration units at RD MoI, Special home for temporary accommodation of foreigners Busmantsi, Lyubimets and RC Elhovo; Expected results: updated software of the National EURODAC system; developed and updated functionalities of the National EURODAC system; built a new database for facial recognition and identity documents; expanded capacity of the EURODAC National System; modernized regional migration units at the Ministry of Interior; aligned with Regulation (EU) № 603/2013 THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of June 26, 2013 National System EURODAC.
