Provision of integration support to persons seeking or granted international protection

Under this project IOM will provide administrative, legal, health, psychological and social support to asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection with special focus being vulnerable groups. The project team, including a psychologist, a social worker and a legal expert will provide support in SAR reception centers and at the IOM offices (Sofia and Harmanli). In order to strengthen the collaboration and communication with institutions and create a mechanism for better cooperation with relevant institutions, the team will provide legal/administrative support. The project team will ensure scheduling of consultations, liaison with institutions, municipalities, social services at local level, schools, police, employment agencies, etc depending on the need of the target group. A team of interpreters from rare languages will provide interpretation support. The experts will provide individual consultations (psychological, social and legal), vulnerability assessment, support of access to health and social services. IOM experience in the field has proven that such composition of expert team provides the most complete support combining social, psychological and legal work in parallel. The legal consultations will cover document and procedure support, provision of information and counseling; the psychological support will address mental health, support UAMs and other vulnerable groups; in cooperation with the social support provide guidance and health promotion, refer to specialists and health care services. As part of its work in RCs/in the community, the expert team will organize information sessions, promotion of health issues and other topics according to the needs of the target group. It is envisaged at least 1,300 asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection to receive administrative, legal, health, psychological and social assistance to improve their access to services, social inclusion and integration in the Bulgarian society.
