"Comprehensive integration support for legally resident third country nationals"

This project, developed by Caritas Sofia and the Council of Refugee Women in Bulgaria, includes a comprehensive package of integration measures for third country nationals (TCNs) legally residing in Bulgaria. It will build sector capacity and upskill TCNs, supporting them to: integrate successfully; access social and health services, education and employment; develop social and life skills; and actively participate in society. The project also aims to improve attitudes towards TCNs among the host society. The project has a wide territorial coverage. It aims to support every stage of integration, starting in the Special Homes for Temporary Accommodation of Foreigners, continuing in Reception Centres and supporting TCNs living at private addresses. The project covers social, economic and cultural adaptation and takes a holistic approach, including comprehensive services, information provision, following up on special cases and support throughout. Vulnerable groups and new arrivals are priority groups within the project. The proposal includes work under the following priority areas of the National Programme for Refugee Integration in Bulgaria and the Action Plan for the Integration of TCNs: information provision; education and Bulgarian language classes; employment and labour market integration; social assistance and access to public services; active participation and social inclusion. A minimum of 2800 unique beneficiaries will benefit from one or all of these activities. The expected outcomes of the proposed activities include: creation of an integration model and demonstration of good practice that can be replicated by other stakeholders; realisation of the potential of TCNs in order to contribute to the Bulgarian economy; building the skills and competences of TCNs so that they achieve self-sufficiency in accessing services and their rights and obligations; changing attitudes to TCNs and improving interaction between them and the host society.
