Strengthening qualification of consular officers and public servants of the Bulgarian MFA

This project is aimed at enhancing the qualification, administrative capacity and expertise in the filed of EU and Schengen visa policy and legislation for both seconded Bulgarian consular officers and officials from the central administration of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Withing the long-term efforts to be undertaken by MFA in strengthening the training activities and practice in EU and Schengen legislation and operation with visa information systems of EU, there will be carried out specialized trainings of trainers in view of addressing the increasing needs for ensuring own training capacity of MFA in the various theoretical and practical aspects of common visa policy. Under the envisaged project activities there will be held as well tailor-made study visits of Bulgarian consular officers or officials from MFA in consular posts in third countries of different member states of the Schengen area with the aim of both acquiring practical knowledge and skills, and providing exchanges of work experience in performing their professional duties. In the context of the task so targeted at boosting the professional qualification and increasing the practical experience and theoretical knowledge of Bulgarian consular officers and officials working at the Bulgarian MFA for the sake of efficient and harmonized application of EU legal tools and visa policy issues, the following project activities will be performed: 1. Project management, implementation and control; 2. Conduction of training courses for consular officers and officials of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; 3. Training of trainers in the filed of visa legislation and practice; 4. Conduction of study visits in consular posts in third countries of Schengen member states; 5. Information and public awareness of the project.
