Development, update and upgrade of the National Visa Information System

This project is aimed at updating, upgrading and developing the software and hardware of the National Visa Information System (NVIS) in compliance with the interoperability requirements and ensuring a continuous connection of NVIS with the Visa Information System of the European Union (VIS-EU). In the context of the efforts undertaken to ensure continuous utilization of best available technology for the central VIS and the national interfaces in accordance with the provisions of Regulation № 767/2008, an upgrade of the existing specialized equipment and roll-out of the software supply of NVIS, as well as an update of the existing hardware, an expansion of the infrastructure and network connectivity of the system will be carried out. For the purposes of the checks duly performed by competent bodies, authorized to process visa information, there will be set up a mechanism to ensure access to visa data of the VIS-EU for border guards, customs, migration, asylum and law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria at the external borders. Within the task so targeted at technological upgrade of NVIS in view of strengthening common visa policy, consular cooperation and consultation between central visa authorities of the EU member states, the following project activities will be performed: 1. Management, implementation and control of the project; 2. Analysis, assessment and development concept of NVIS; 3. Technological and functional upgrade of NVIS; 4. Technological and system update of NVIS; 5. Information and public awareness of the project.
