Upgrading of border police equipment in connection with changes to the EURODAC Regulation

The project envisages the purchase of 31 new specialized biometric stations for verification and identification of persons subject to the EURODAC system and updating and supplementing the equipment of of the equipment of 33 specialized biometric stations located in the regional structures of Border Police General Directorate (BPGD), in view of the amendments to the Eurodac Regulation. Most of the specialized biometric booking stations of EURODAC in the structure of the Border Police General Directorate were installed at the end of 2008 and will have a continuous operation for twelve years by the end of 2020, which requires their replacement. In connection with the new requirements of the Eurodac Regulation, it is necessary to purchase additional equipment for taking fingerprints and taking identity documents for the remaining 33 specialized biometric stations purchased in 2017. It is also planned to equip four new border structures with specialized biometric stations for verification and identification of persons subject to the EURODAC system. Along with the replacement of the equipment, the employees of the structure of BPGD will be trained to work with the new functionalities of the biometric booking stations and the requirements of the Eurodac Regulation. The target groups of the project are employees of the Research Institute of Forensic Science (RIFS)-Ministry of Interior, employees of BPGD, and regional structure of BPGD. The expected results are: Increased technical capacity to work with the EURODAC system; Increased capacity of staff working with the EURODAC system; Purchased 31 new specialized biometric booking stations and upgraded the equipment of 33 border police specialized biometric booking stations
