Establishing a system for processing SIMs-related encrypted information

Development of a system of measures to tackle the challenge of data encryption used by felons by processing encrypted data obtained in the course of using and applying Special Intelligence Means (SIMs). The system built will be upgradable and expandable. The project proposal fully complies with the general framework set out in Regulation (EU) No 513/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 establishing, as part of the Internal Security Fund, the instrument for financial support for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, and crisis management and repealing Council Decision 2007/125/JHA. The main objective of the project is to enhance SIMs application results for a more effective and efficient implementation of activities against serious and organized crime, which shall contribute to ensuring a higher level of security within the Union. The expected outcome is to raise the efficiency of counteraction to serious and organized crime by implementing advanced information systems and technologies. SATO employees’ competencies for implementing specific activities, related to SIMs application countering organized crime and terrorism and the protection of the national security of the Republic of Bulgaria will be improved.
