Modernisation of the system of street lighting in 22 zones, including main road thoroughfares within the city of Burgas

Modernisation of the system of street lighting in 22 zones, including main road thoroughfares within the city of Burgas project has for main objective to improve the energy efficiency of the street lighting within the city through implementation of measures related to renovation of the lighting infrastructure. The implementation of the project will contribute for the achievement of specific objectives regarding the reduction of CO2 emissions, energy consumption and financial resources; improvement of the air quality, road safety, better security and quality of life of the citizens. The main target group englobes residents and visitors of the city, but also includes experts from Burgas Municipality, local and regional authorities, business, NGOs, civil society, energy distribution utility company. Main activities include full replacement of light fittings, renovation of control panels for the lampposts network, installation of 24 solar powered LED luminaires on pedestrian crossings as well as partial modernisation and upgrade of the automated system for management and control of the street lighting on Democratcia boulevard. Norsk Energi – a Norwegian company is a partner under the project with whom Burgas Municipality will cooperate and exchange experience and good practices for the implementation of innovative approach in the field of street lighting energy management. Main expected results are improved street lighting energy efficiency of 22 zones, including main road thoroughfares within the city of Burgas, savings of CO2 emissions up to 1328,66 tCO2/y; energy consumption reduction by 1 123 038 kWh/y; financial saving raising up to 197 048,25 lewa per year, increased quality of life and information of the citizens.
