Foundations for the future

The project proposal has the ultimate goal to improve the conditions and the national capacity for asylum seekers’ acceptance, with a specific focus on unaccompanied minors. The principles and approaches will follow the guidelines of " Basic child protection standards for the identifying of unaccompanied children, who need moving" and of the "Management of EASO about the acceptance conditions of unaccompanied children: operation standards and indicators". The project will deliver services to asylum seekers with priority to the unaccompanied minors in the Safe zones. The planned activities will have an impact on the improvement of co-operation and capacity of field work and collaboration with national institutions such as State agency for refugees (SAR), National agency for child protection, National Office for legal assistance and organisations as the International organization for migration (IOM), UNHCR and UNHCR, by complementing the existing services and avoiding duplication. With this objective in mind, the applicant and the partner have conducted prior consultations. The project’s methodology builds upon the “Case management" approach, ensuring comprehensive impact on the target audience wellbeing by complementing the basic services in the field with a focus on the child’s best interest and exercise of the fundamental human rights. The team plans to implement short-term measures for normalizing the psychological state of the vulnerable minors as well as long-term for establishing trust relationship and access to social, health and educational services, recreational activities, etc. in the course of their adaptation. Efforts would be put in ensuring psycho-social consulting and support, overcoming trauma, creating positive experiences and building habits among generations who did not have access to school or to a safe environment. The long-term work is focused on building life skills and habits, literacy, access to education, among others.
