Increasing the capacity of General Directorate “Combating Organized Crime” for more effective investigation of organized and transnational crime

The project is aimed at strengthening the national capabilities for combating organized crime and will enhance the cooperation with the Norwegian national Criminal Service (KRIPOS) and international organizations such as Europol, Interpol and foreign partner law enforcement agencies. The project will strengthen the justice chain and the knowledge and capacity of officials in the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC), magistrates and other experts in the field of countering organized crime. The conditions for the preservation and proper storage of evidence will be further improved. The target group of the project will be GDCOC experts, magistrates and relevant actors, who are directly engaged in combating cross-border organized crime. Experts from international organizations like Europol, Eurojust and Interpol are also envisaged to participate in the project. The expected results and activities are as follow: -Increased technical capabilities of GDCOC to investigate transnational and organised crime, including modernizing the technical capacity to conduct investigations, in compliance with international standards/best practice; - Improving the professional qualification of the experts involved in countering organized crime and reaching a level of compliance with EU LEA, GDCOC experts, Bulgarian LEAs and magistrates for effectiveness in prevention, identification, investigation and proper prosecution of various forms of transnational and organised crime. -Improved conditions of GDCOC facilities for organized crime prevention and investigation. - Enhanced technical capabilities of GDCOC for countering organized crime .
